First of all you thought the steer tube was 1 inch because you were measureing with a paper ruler that you get from elementry and the scratch on the stantion wasnt big at all and it was on the spring side so it doesnt matter.

the scratch WILL change the performance, i work in a bike shop and i'm prety sure i know more about what i'm talking about then some 16 year old child. if some dirt were to touch the scratch(WHICH IT WILL!) it will create friction and scratch it even more, plus, it destroys the whole fork in the end

i needed 8 1/2 to 9 inch of steer tube, and you could have a scratch on either side and it would be still mess up the performance, at least the ruler could mesure

screw off i your the one selling a mad scrached fox f40, with a massive scratch on the stanchion, plus i didn't fit my bike, so if you were actually a good salesman, and not a have f*cked around, you would have not wasted you time, don't be such an immature child
